No. You can download the app and start using its transcription and note-taking features right away. However, pairing it with the N1 Pro Notetaker gives you a more complete experience. For example, N1 Pro can capture important conversations while you’re on a phone call or conference call. It also delivers better recording quality than the app alone, capturing the full audio of your surroundings. Plus, your N1 Pro purchase comes with additional transcription time.

It depends on the noise in the room, but generally speaking the N1 Pro can record audio of a normal-level conversation from up to about 30 feet away. Of course, if someone is on a microphone speaking through an AV system, that 30-ft distance is no longer a limit. Put simply: if you can hear them speaking, so can Notari!

In addition to the four MEMS microphones that capture ambient spoken conversation on the N1 Pro, a contact (or "vibration") microphone is included specifically to pick up the voice on the other end of a phone call. As long as your N1 Pro is attached to your phone during a call, it hears what you hear—no need for speaker mode. Using earphones on your call will of course mean Notari will only hear your side.

Every N1 Pro comes with a magnetic adapter ring in the box, allowing you to snap your Notari device to your phone no matter the brand.
