Notari vs. Pocket:
Freedom or Lock-In?
Pricing and plan benefits checked on October 15, 2026.
Our Verdict:
Notari Offers More Freedom and a More User-Friendly Experience
Notari leads on hardware, starting cost, recording options, workflow, and plan flexibility. The thinner N1 Pro is optional: start at $0 on a phone, computer, or browser, then add it when needed. The current Founder Edition gives N1 Pro recordings unlimited Standard transcription for life. You can also choose Advanced transcription, correct the text, then generate summaries and Q&A with a named model. Tiered plans let you upgrade only as needed.
Pocket includes unlimited Standard transcription and unlimited first-pass summaries, but requires its $149 device. Once processing starts, both are generated back-to-back, before you can correct names, amounts, dates, or terminology. Higher-accuracy transcription, unlimited Ask, and permanent summary storage require Pro at $29.99/month or $239.99/year, with no middle tier. Notari keeps the recording entry point, accuracy, review, model, and budget in your hands.

Automation can be disabled, but once triggered, transcription and the first summary run consecutively.

Start at $0, Without Being Pushed Straight to the Top Tier
Pocket's "unlimited" offer still starts with a $149 device. Notari Free lets you record without one: 300 monthly credits cover 300 minutes of Standard or 150 minutes of Advanced transcription. Choose the accuracy that fits each recording, from everyday notes to critical interviews. All advanced AI features are available to try for free.
N1 Pro recordings include unlimited Standard transcription for life, plus 300 credits a month. Plus suits moderate users; choose Pro only for unlimited Standard transcription across all sources and a larger Advanced allowance. Pocket has no middle tier, forcing even light users to buy Pro for advanced benefits. Notari lets you try every benefit for free and upgrade only as needed.

Bottom line
Start free
Free: $0;
300 credits/month = 300 Standard minutes or 150 Advanced minutes; no device required.
No zero-cost, hardware-free option;
you must buy the device first.
Only Notari offers a true zero-cost way to try the experience.
Buy a device
N1 Pro: $129.99; currently offered as the Founder Edition.
Recordings made on the device include lifetime unlimited Standard transcription, plus 300 credits/month = 300 Standard minutes or 150 Advanced minutes.
Pocket: $149; unlimited total Standard minutes; Highest Accuracy requires Pro.
The N1 Pro is thinner, includes a screen and more microphones, and costs less than Pocket.
Moderate use
Plus: $14.99/month or $119.99/year; 2,000 credits/month = up to 2,000 Standard minutes or 1,000 Advanced minutes; unlimited summaries and Q&A.
No middle tier.
With Notari, a small need for advanced features does not force you onto the top plan.
Heavy use
Pro: $29.99/month or $239.99/year; unlimited Standard transcription from every source; 4,000 credits/month = up to 2,000 Advanced minutes; unlimited summaries and Q&A.
Pro: $29.99/month or $239.99/year; transcription and AI Chat are labeled unlimited; this is also the only paid personal tier.
Notari offers a more complete upgrade path, gives you access to most advanced AI features without the top plan, and lets you choose the model.
Unlimited summary and Q&A features
Upgrade to Plus for $14.99 to get unlimited AI summaries and Q&A.
Upgrade to Pro for $29.99 to get unlimited AI summaries and Q&A.
Unlimited AI use with Notari costs half as much as it does with Pocket.
Pocket's "unlimited" offer still has boundaries and does not mean individual recordings can run forever. On the device's Free plan, initial summaries are kept for only 30 days; permanent storage requires Pro - hardly user-friendly after paying $149 for the device.
Pocket publishes a Free Ask allowance of roughly 60-270 queries per 30 days. Pro is labeled "Unlimited AI Chat," yet recurring limits for features such as Deep Research are not consistently published. This is not about "hidden credits"; it means some advanced benefits cannot be quantified precisely before purchase.
Try Notari Right Away on the Devices You Already Own

Hardware plays a different role with Notari. Without the N1 Pro, you can still record on a phone, computer, or browser: use the app face to face, a computer or browser for online meetings, the N1 Pro for calls, and Write Note for ideas without audio. Everything lands in My Notes. Try the service free before buying hardware, then switch freely among recording methods.
Notari opens more convenient ways to capture conversations across your devices instead of charging a hardware admission fee to unlock basic app features.

Product role
An optional one-press recording option for phone calls and in-person situations where recording needs to start immediately.
A hardware requirement for mobile and in-person recording.
Thanks to strong industrial design, the N1 Pro is 0.7 mm thinner than Pocket despite having two extra microphones, and costs $19.01 less. Battery-life claims are not directly comparable, however: Pocket's vague "up to four days of active use" does not reveal continuous recording time.

More Freedom, Better Accuracy
After a device recording syncs, Pocket generates a transcript, summary, mind map, and action items by default. Automatic transcription, summarization, importing, and desktop recording can be turned off, but only the timing changes. Once triggered, the transcript and first summary still run back-to-back. You can edit the transcript afterward, but the first summary has already used unverified text.
Notari separates transcription and summarization, with a model choice at each step. Review the transcript, then summarize with a specific prompt - an approach far more accurate than automatic generation and template summaries. Choose Standard or Advanced transcription; correct names, amounts, dates, product names, terminology, and task owners; then select a model, enter instructions, and generate the result.
This reduces the risk of errors reaching conclusions or action items. For meeting minutes, customer interviews, research material, and archives, it is more reliable than rushing out a first draft. Give routine recordings a quick check; review important material more carefully or switch to Advanced.

In our hands-on testing, Pocket produced both a transcript and summary from a roughly three-second blank recording. This only shows its default is "finish first, organize later" - not that automation cannot be disabled or transcription minutes are wasted, because Standard has no overall minute cap. Human review remains crucial for important recordings.
Model transparency is another clear Notari advantage: summaries offer more than 10 of the latest named models, while Q&A names models such as GPT, Gemini, and Grok. Pocket offers 7 named summary models, but Q&A shows only capability tiers such as Thinking, leaving the underlying model undisclosed. For important content, you can see at a glance which model is processing it.
Why Choose Notari Over Pocket?
Notari combines a $0 start, multiple recording methods, accuracy choices, review before summarization, named models, and a clear upgrade path - so you need not choose between efficiency and control.
